Monsoon Rains Expected to Hit Karachi and Surrounding Area

A fresh wave of the monsoon is forecasted to affect Karachi and nearby districts starting Sunday evening, bringing thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, according to the Meteorological Department.

Weather System
The present weather system is located over southwest Rajasthan, India, extending into adjacent areas of Sindh. It continues to push monsoon winds into the province, causing unstable weather conditions.

Rain Forecast for Karachi
Residents of Karachi can expect intermittent rainfall with strong winds and thunderstorms from Sunday night until September 11. The city is likely to experience humid and cloudy conditions before the rainfall begins. On Tuesday, heavy to very heavy showers with strong gusty winds are anticipated, which may lead to urban flooding in various parts of the city.

Areas at Risk
Besides Karachi, multiple districts are at risk of flooding and water accumulation in low-lying areas. These include:

• Mirpurkhas
• Shaheed Benazirabad
• Tharparkar
• Khairpur
• Sukkur
• Larkana
• Thatta
• Badin
• Sujawal
• Hyderabad

Residents are advised to remain cautious as heavy rains, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and possible lightning strikes may disrupt daily life and cause traffic and drainage issues in these areas.
